War in Earnest

Yesterday, Putin announced a special military operation into Ukraine to demilitarize and "denazify" the country. Following the announcement reports emerged across Ukraine of cities under attack.  Below is some of the news emerging out of the country. We will have more in our regularly scheduled newsletter coming out tomorrow. 

• Reports of shelling in Ukrainian cities Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and even the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk 

• President Zelensky has imposed martial law, urging Ukrainians to stay home 

• The Ukrainian border service stated that Russian tanks have started coming across the border

• Airports across the country are closed and all air traffic has been diverted from the country

• Ukraine reported experiencing cyberattacks on their bank and government websites 

• President Biden spoke with Zelensky last night, promising a swift global response 

•  The United Nations Security Council was in the middle of an emergency meeting when the attack began. Global leaders have condemned Putin's move.

• The price of a barrel of oil jumped to its highest price since 2014

• The United States has announced they will add additional sanctions but Biden is still not committing to sending troops to Ukraine
